Business Assessment Notices
On November 3, 2016, the 2017 Business Assessment Notices will be mailed to businesses in the City of Winnipeg. This notice will only be mailed to businesses that had an annual rental value change (ARV) in 2016, which will affect their 2017 ARV. This would include but not limited to businesses that have moved locations, new business starts, increase or decrease space etc…
All businesses regardless if they have received a 2017 Business Assessment Notices can appeal their 2017 ARV. The deadline to file an appeal with the Board of Revision is November 24, 2016.
The 2017 Annual Rental Value reflects the average net market rents for commercial space similar to the business premises and includes cost of providing heat and other services necessary for the comfortable use or occupancy of the premises. The 2017 Annual Rental Value is based on a reference date of April 1, 2014, and is indicative of what the rental market and costs were then.
