Service Fees

The Assessment and Taxation Department has historically developed services and systems specifically designed to accommodate the needs of the legal, financial and real estate communities. In doing so, certain fees are charged to ensure that services are being paid for by the persons/businesses that use and benefit from the information provided. It should be noted that the registered owner of a property may not be required to pay a fee for certain services.

If you are a law firm, a financial institution or in the real estate community you may already be signed up to access information on-line through the "On-line Tax Information Subscription Service" and a link to the login screen can be found under the quick links section of each web page. If you are not currently enrolled to access this information on-line you must first subscribe through Legal Data Resource Corporation, all the required forms are located on their website. Or, you may write to the Assessment and Taxation Department requesting the information along with cheque for the payment of the service that is to be provided.


Fee for Service Policy:

At its meeting held on July 12, 1995, City Council adopted the Fees for Services Policy relating to tax information provided to persons other than the registered owner of the property. The fees came into effect on January 1, 1996. With the adoption of the Fees for Services Policy and subsequent fee changes, the following services have been charged on a user-pay basis and will increase on a yearly basis to reflect the CPI, these fees are effective January 1, 2012:

Assessment and Tax Search $15.75 per tax account
Tax Information (Electronic) $10.60 per tax account

Financial Institutions
Tax Account Information (Paper or Electronic)

$15.50 per tax account
Tax Sale Redemption Certificates $15.75 per tax account
Local Improvement Statements $36.00 per tax account
Tax Certificates - Manual $41.00 per property
Tax Certificates - online via LDRC $40.00 per property
Tax Instalment Payment Plan (TIPP)
(Monthly administration fee)
75 cents per month
Miscellaneous Charges (Administration Fee) $31.00 per transaction
